PARALEGAL

State Tax Law is seeking a paralegal with 1-3 years of experience to support our Team of state tax lawyers in New York.  We are looking to add to our Team that represents and advises clients on litigation, controversy, planning, advice, and policy matters. We have a collaborative Team that works together to achieve our goal of providing exceptional quality representation and advice to our clients. The characteristics of the ideal candidate are –

• Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word).

• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities.
• Ability to work flexible and/or fluctuating work hours.
• Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.

This position provides litigation and transactional legal support to the state tax lawyers. Paralegal responsibilities, include - 

• Manage the litigation docket and audit deadlines for client matters.
• Perform legal research and compile case law, statutes, regulations and legislative histories using electronic research tools such as WestLaw.
• Perform legal writing services such as footnoting, Bluebook cite checking and providing legal source material.
• Communicate with judicial and administrative bodies.
• This position works with clients to retrieve information and documentation
• Prepare filings for submission to judicial and administrative bodies.
• Organize client source documents for controversy or planning matters.
• Coordinate the exchange of documents in discovery.
• Track important cases in litigation around the U.S. 
• Transpose tax computations into Excel.
• Prepare communications to clients and adversaries.
